For My Friend, Teri

I could not have done this, and definitely not so quickly, without Mike's help.

My friend Teri had a stroke on June 20th that necessitated a craniectomy and left her partially paralyzed. On July 10th she was moved to sub-acute rehab, and on August 29th was moved to long-term care at Elderwood Nursing Home. I'll have more to say about Elderwood later, but for now I asked her what her favorite color is and got my big brother on the phone.

Mike coordinated the colors and purchased the yarn, and I crocheted this in record time. It is big enough to cover a hospital bed, which is unfortunately just what Teri needs right now.

I am hoping desperately that she will have some recovery after a cranioplasty. What she is doing now is not 'living' by any stretch of the imagination.

One of my co-workers is having twin boys in October! A benefit of being laid up for a while... I've completed the first of two baby blankets.

For My Seester

My sister asked if I would make her an afghan, something light for spring, maybe with flowers? I've started it:

Another Hooded Scarf

My sister really liked the hooded scarf I made for my niece, Carly. She needs something with a closer weave, though, because she gets cold so easily. I decided to start the hood like I started Carly's, but do the body of the hood and the scarf with a stitch that is more dense. I re-discovered the basket weave stitch online and am giving it a shot So far, it looks good.

LaniMom's New Afghan

I started this afghan near the end of April, 2012, while patiently sitting with my father and family in the Erie County Medical Center Trauma ICU waiting room. It kept my hands busy while my mind worried...

It went to ECMC when she was in acute rehab, to the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where she stayed for sub-acute rehab, and to all the many doctor appointments and treks back to ECMC in between.

I finished it today, and I am going to give it to LaniMom tomorrow. I hope it keeps her warm and reminds her of her family's love.

The Latest Afghan

Finished! I started this afghan when I was pregnant with Ian in 2000, but never really had a reason to get it done. Well, my nephew Andy is getting married in two months, and that was an excellent reason to get myself in gear! I hope they like it. It will lay across the top of a full size bed, or make a nice throw to cuddle up on the couch. :) I'm giving it to them at their bridal shower tomorrow.
