"In an act of political retaliation for her husband's revealing that there was no truth to the president's claim in the State of the Union address that Saddam Hussein sought uranium in Niger, the identification of his wife, Valerie Plame, as a CIA agent, was leaked to the press. In doing so, a federal law was broken. Subsequently a conspiracy evolved within the White House involving Bush and his chief deputy Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and his chief deputy Scooter Libby, and the press secretary Scott McClellan to conceal the source of the leaks. Both the identification and conspiracy are high crimes, and as such, cause for impeachment.
